Making Lemonade

We wish we could find that the current situation was just a made-for-TV movie. Clearly, it’s not. Covid-19 is here, and it is changing the way we go about our days. Conferences are canceled, and university campuses will remain empty for a while. Family vacations will be interrupted, and many of our favorite pastimes are being wiped from the calendar.

There is a lot less to do, and it’s more than a little disconcerting - even frightening. But it doesn’t have to debilitate us. Indeed, it’s possible that this can be a unique opportunity for us, if we choose to make the opportunity.

Think for a moment about all the things you wish you could make more time for in the midst of your daily hustle. Have you ever wished you had just a little more time for meaningful conversations with your family? Is there something you would really like the time to master or to think deeply about?

It’s possible that Covid-19 just made that time for you - and for all of us. The schedule may have opened up a bit, and it’s up to each of us to make the most of it. We can take responsibility for ourselves and emerge from this pandemic in better shape than before we had ever heard of this virus.

Learn something. Love someone. Be generous. Create. Teach. Give. Grow. This can be a special time, but only when we make it so.
